{"id":1755,"date":"2023-07-13T20:07:20","date_gmt":"2023-07-13T20:07:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/panzifoundation.org\/?p=1755"},"modified":"2023-07-13T20:13:09","modified_gmt":"2023-07-13T20:13:09","slug":"communique-on-the-assassination-of-the-honorable-cherubin-okende-senga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/panzifoundation.org\/communique-on-the-assassination-of-the-honorable-cherubin-okende-senga\/","title":{"rendered":"Communique on the Assassination of the Honorable Ch\u00e9rubin Okende Senga"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This is a very serious time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was deeply dismayed to learn of the kidnapping and subsequent murder in Kinshasa of the Honorable Ch\u00e9rubin OKENDE SENGA, national deputy and honorary minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This heinous crime has just been committed in the run-up to general elections, in a context of repression of political opposition, dangerous curtailment of freedoms and terror that we have repeatedly denounced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I firmly condemn this heinous crime and call for an independent inquiry to shed full light on this assassination and bring justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I offer my deepest condolences to the family of the Honourable Ch\u00e9rubin Okende, and express my solidarity with the political party &#8220;Ensemble pour la R\u00e9publique&#8221; of which he was spokesman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I call on all the living forces of our Nation: citizens&#8217; movements, associations, professional organizations, religious denominations and political parties to come together as a matter of urgency to give a strong, appropriate and lasting joint response to these serious human rights violations, and to defend democracy and peace in our country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let us mobilize to save our Nation in peril.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Denis Mukwege<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a very serious time.
